Truth Saves Lives!

I would be lying if I told you that I never lied. On too many occasions, I find myself slipping a little lie because come on it’s easy to cheat, isn’t it?
Well, sometimes, life ends up teaching you a lesson and you just know that regardless of how easy lying may be, truth always has its own rewards.
One such incident that left a mark in my life happened like this.
When you just enter college, there is a lot of excitement among students to “try” out new things. It is the “rebellion” years because we literally hate anyone lecturing us. We feel like we are the best judge and I too was one of these stereotypes.
Unluckily for me, I fell into bad company. One day, we decided to go hiking in the wild. I knew my parents would permit for hiking; however, we weren’t returning after that. One of my friend told that he had an exciting plan for us and we should all say that we would crash at one of ours’ place for the night.
While it was a little hard for me to convince my parents for night stay, they eventually agreed because their child’s happiness was all that mattered to them.
I did feel bad for betraying their trust, but what could I possibly say? I didn’t even know what we were doing.
As I went out that day, I felt like crying. It was not like I had never lied before, but somehow the guilt was too heavy for my own comfort. However, as I had no opinion, I strolled out. When I reached the trekking place, I could no longer hold it in and I left a text message to my mom explaining the whole thing and saying sorry. I was too scared to call her up. However, she instantly replied back asking me about the exact address and to keep her updated and asked me to take care. Suddenly, I knew that I would now be truly enjoying the trip. I called her later, said sorry and we were chirping again. However, I had no clue of the night ahead of me.
Our friend got us all drunk- that was his idea of fun. We were high and we sat at the bonfire, playing truth and dare. None of us were in our true senses and so we didn’t pay heed to the weather alert.
My phone beeped a lot of times but I never paid heed to the same. It was my mum calling. The area was under high storm alert.
My dad called up the family of other friends and they all came down to pick us. The storm had grown and it was one heck of a night.
Had I not spoken the truth, we all might have died in the wilderness because we were all too drunk to walk leave alone run.
Sometimes truth can save lives and now I know how!

A Vacation To Cherish

Do you love children? I adore them. My heart goes all fuzzy when I see children giggling with glee and roaming with true and genuine smiles painted on their face. Some of the best memories which I have are the ones when I travelled to different corners of the world as a kid. My dad made it a point to do the needful to ensure that as kids, we had all the fun which we wanted to have.

As I was nostalgic of these memories, I came across the idea of how I would love my kids (in future) to have the best time when they are on a vacation with me.

Beach Games

As a kid, I have always loved the beach games. While I am the kind of person who loves to romance the hills, but there is something truly playful about sitting down at the shore and sprinkling water on each other. Not to forget, making your own sandcastle and tripping in the sand gives you the kind of memory that keeps you fuzzy even when you are 90 years old. With my kids, I would play all those beach games which will make them proud of who I am. I want to see the specks of happiness roll in their eyes and give me the satisfaction of having the kind of life that makes me gaze at the sky and thank the Almighty.

Unplanned Trips On Impulse

Children love those trips that are planned on impulse. I would love to gift them this thrill too. I would love to take out time from my schedule and take them on impromptu trips such that they can relish the sudden changes in schedule and enjoy to their hearts out.

Trekking In The Outback

Now, this can be a little risky with kids but it is an adventure which kids love. Most kids are by nature curious and thus the very thought of going on a trekking adventure is sure to excite them. I have been on trekking expeditions in Bhutan as a kid and I would love my kids to have the same experience. Obviously, I would take care of all the right supplies and pay heed to the details to be sure that children can have a safe trip.

These are just a few deals which I have in mind right now to ensure that my kids can have a fabulous trip. When you find that your kids are enjoying the trip to the fullest, it will automatically make you happy as you are going to love the happy faces.

When we are traveling, we do it to spend time with our loved ones free from the stress of our work life. If your kids are enjoying themselves and making wonderful memories, your life will seem like the perfect shot taken for a fairytale.

I Won Over My FEAR!

“Have you ever been scared in your life?”

This is one question which I have been asked too many times and sadly my answer has always been YES. I have been scared of so many things that too many times, I felt depressed about myself. However, one of the biggest lessons which I have learnt in life is to win over my fears.

It is okay to be scared because fear is nothing but another part of your emotions. However, you need to know that you are larger than your fear. You have to win over them. As long as you are winning over your fears, you are clinching the race of life.

Here I am going to share with you a story of how I overcame my fear because I knew it was the right thing to do. While the incident might not be something hugely striking; but, it did teach me a lot about life.

I have an uncanny fear of dogs. While I love seeing pictures of them but as soon as I find one near me, it makes me go in frenzy. I tried all possible methods to get over the fear, but none of them had worked. It is not like I don’t love dogs, but merely being close to them made me shiver and tremble.

However, once when I was jogging in the park early in the morning on a cold wintery day, I found a stray dog lying underneath the bench. There was no one else around and the dog seemed to be panting very hard. Owing to my fear of dogs, I dared not go closer. However, as I turned around to jog on the other side of the park, I found a pool of blood and I realized that the dog was bleeding badly as well.

I was torn amidst my love for dogs and the fear I had as well. In that very instant, I knew that fear is nothing but a mental belief. I had to cross that edge because if I chose to remain a slave to my fear, I would end up doing nothing and the regret of not saving a life will not let me live in peace.

I would not exaggerate and tell you that it was easy because every step which I took towards the dog was breathtakingly fearsome. My heart was thudding so loudly in my chest that it drowned the sound of everything else. However I knew that once I made a commitment; it must be kept. So, I took another leap and then another until it kept on being added.

Finally, the moment I tried to touch the dog, he barked and my whole body went numb. It was the point of complete panic and in that moment, I knew, I would either break my fear forever or my fear is going to turn into a phobia. I chose to break the shackles and slowly tried to pet him. He settled down and I took him in my lap and dialed the number of the nearest pet rescue unit. The rest they say is history.

While it was just a dog, but this incident made me learn that life is about winning those little battles and making a difference.

My inspiration for this post comes from Mountain Dew who always promote the need to win over your fear.
